Ministry of Road Highways and Transport is taking up a project for the rehabilitation and up-gradation of NH-221 in AP. The project involves the widening of Ibrahimpatnam to Chandragudem Section (0.0 Km to 37.735 Km) and Chandragudem to AP/Telangan Border Section (32.735 Km to 71.2 Km) to two-lane with paved shoulders/four lane under NHDP-IV on EPC basis. As of December 2014, bids for selection of Authority Engineer for the project has invited.
