JSW Steel, Salem works, is setting up an alloy steels manufacturing unit at Pottaneri, Salem . The project comprises the installation of 0.3 MT alloy steel, used in the auto mobile sectors and engineering applications also the project involves the installation of an additional Sinter Plant, new bloom caster, enhancement of Blast furnace 1 & 2, Energy Optimization Furnace etc. As of January 2015, company has approached MoEF for environmental clearance.
