V .O.Chidambaranar Port Trust is planning to take up development of of north cargo berth-III for handling of coal through public private partnership. The project is estimated to cost Rs.5868.9 million. As of June 2016, the port trust has invited pre-qualification bids for selecting the developer for the project.
