'Airports Authority of India is planning to upgrade agartala airport in Tripura. The project involves creating additional infrastructure like expansion of runways, making aprons for accommodating 15 aircraft, modern terminal building, parking places and air traffic control towers. As of July 2013, project is in the planning stage and project work is expected to commence in January 2014.
