Rajasthan State Mines & Minerals is planning to develop Kasnau lignite block in Nagaur district through a joint venture. As of May 2014, RSMML has invited expression of interest bids for formation of a joint venture company (JVC) with RSMML, for integrated development of the Kasnau lignite block in Nagaur district, to operate the project for mining lignite, installation and operation of the lignite-based captive thermal power plant with and without a solar power plant, installation of a brackish water treatment plant of suitable capacity for carrying out desalination of the saline ground water and its disposal.
